Additional Tips and Information:
- Set an intention before burning the sage/wood - What do you want to get out of this ritual? For example: If you're moving into a new place, your intention could be cleansing the space of the previous energies and welcoming light, positivity, protection, prosperity, etc. into your new home. This is a fundamental part of the process so remember to keep this is in mind as you perform the ritual.
- Light the Sage/Palo Santo with the door(s) and windows open and in a well ventilated area. When driving out the negative energy and cleansing the space, you want to allow it somewhere to go - outside.
- If you are just starting out, don't get too stressed about the "correct" way to do it. There are so many different traditions, beliefs, and rituals when it comes to burning these herbs and woods! The important thing is to do what feels right to you with the right intentions in mind.
*If you have lung or breathing problems, avoid inhaling direct smoke, which may worsen or symptoms. Do not leave burning Sage or Palo Santo unattended. Do not burn around women who are or may be pregnant, infants, or young children. Extinguish the burning sage or wood completely at the end of your session/ceremony by putting the lit end in sand/dirt, water, or by covering the lid of a non-flammable pot or container.
